“Right,” Kait bit at her lip, glancing periodically at the two of them.
Cass kissed his neck, lightly rubbing his back before moving towards the fridge to get something to drink.

Xander shook his head, grinning before grabbing the phone off the wall and dialing Jack's cell phone number.
Eva bit her lip uncomfortably, staring out the window.

Jack thought for a moment, opened his mouth, and glanced down at his phone as it rang. “Hello?”

"Hey, we;re back." Xander said, not bothering to say who it was. Jack should know by now. "Mind bringing Kait by?"

“Hey, welcome back.” Jack exchanged pleasantries, purely for Kait’s benefit. “I’ll drop her off as soon as she’s done packing a few things.” Kait fidgeted next to him, waiting for him to hand her the phone.

""Well, have her hurry up, alright?" Xander was a little bit miffed by this; Jack knew when they'd be back, but obviously didn't have Kait ready yet.

“Yeah, sure.” Jack sighed, pulling into his driveway and opening Eva’s door. Kait followed behind him like a shadow. “Here, I think someone wants to talk to you.” He handed Kait the phone.
“Go pack, alright?” Jack knew that if Xander was mad, Cass would be pissed; and it wouldn’t help when he told her about Eva.
“Hi, Xand!” She chirped, already halfway up the stairs. “Miss me?”
Jack sighed, glancing at Eva and giving her a sheepish smile. “Not that bad, right?”

"Always." Xander said cheerfully. "We missed you so much we brought home presents." he always bought Kait presents when he and Cass went somewhere.
Eva laughed nervously and shook her head. "She's cute.... and probably thinks I'm an idiot."

“Sweet.” Kait grinned, tossing a few spare changes of clothes in her backpack. “Mom loose her toothbrush again?”
“Does not,” Jack grinned, shaking his head. “C’mon inside before I have to take her to Cass’.”

"I honestly don't know what she does with them." Xander laughed. "Every time we go somewhere..."
Eva walked rather stiffly inside, wondering idlly how she'd gotten herself into this life that was so much more dramatic and stressful than things had been a week ago.

“I did not loose it,” Cass said primly from the fridge. “It’s in your bag somewhere.” Kait laughed.
“It’s probably still at the hotel.”
“Kait,” Jack called up the stairs. “Let’s go.”
“See you in like five minutes. Love you, bye!” She raced down the stairs. “Bye, Eva!” Jack glanced at Eva, then at the door.
“I’ll be back in a little, let you get some work done,” He moved towards her, kissing her cheek.

Xander laughed and shook his head, hanging up the phone. "They're on their way over."
Eva smiled slightly and nodded. "See you soon..."

“She likes you,” Jack grinned, heading for the door. “Love you.” Ten minutes later he was outside Xander’s front door, arms loaded with Kait’s backpack and her effects. Her hand reached for the door knob but Jack stopped her.
“Use the doorbell, sugar.” He chided gently, not wanting Cass to think he was intruding on her or anything, walking in and out of her house without permission. Rolling her eyes when she thought her father wasn’t looking, Kait obeyed.

"Cass, they're here!" Xander yelled from the kichen where he was fixing himself a sandwich. "Can you get it?"

“Fine,” Cass muttered, dropping the lacy nightgown she’d been folding and made her way to the door. She grinned, scooping up her daughter in a hug as soon as the door was out of the way.
“Jack.” She straightened as Kait took her things to her room.
“We need to talk.” He rubbed at his neck, trying desperately to ignore the look Cass was giving him.
“To me, or…?”
“Both of you.” He finished for her, following her towards the kitchen. She touched Xander’s shoulder as she passed him, crossing her arms and leaning against the counter.

Xander got the message and set his food down, wholly unamused at being interrupted before he even got his first bite. He stood next to Cass, his face blank

“Right, um.” Jack started, outnumbered and out of his element. “So, the reunion was last week,” Cass didn’t like where this was going, not one bit. “And Eva’s back, to stay. I’m going to ask her to marry me.”
Cass stared at him, too shocked to say anything; but Jack didn’t like the look in her eye, not one bit.

Xander stayed quiet, unsure of what to do. One part of his was proud of his former best friend and just wanted to congratulate him, but the other part told him that he had no idea how Cass was going to react to this. Eva was human, ad Cass has always seemed to hate her. Grinning and patting Jack on the shoulder could get him into way more trouble than he wanted to be in after such a great trip, so he stayed still, watching the two of them

Cass’ lip curled, shaking her head. “No.” She looked back and forth from Xander to Jack, like this was some elaborate joke they were playing on her. “Absolutely not.”
Jack felt his temper rising and grit his teeth to keep from yelling, mindful that Kait was upstairs. “You can’t tell me who to marry, Cassandra. She-“
“No, Jack,” Cass cut him off. “You listen to me. My daughter-“
“Our daughter.” Jack corrected, earning another glare.
“My daughter will not be living with some human, some human who has you wrapped around her finger, especially one who’s father’s a hunter.” She smiled, basking in the shocked look on his face.
“Thought we could keep that little tidbit secret, did we?” She glanced at Xander, shaking her head. “Eva’s father went on a little hunting spree before we showed up, almost killed Jack and that half blood friend of his.”

Xander frowned, considering this. Kait would't take well to being told she couldn't see her father, and he didnt know what they would tell her. "Maybe we should all think about this for awhile..."
