She’d been waiting for this day for a very long time, too long. But at long last she was legal, barely. An adult by law, not yet old enough to buy booze, but that never stopped her before. Now she could vote in the council, vote in human politics, and buy cigarettes. But none of these were what she was looking forward to, not by a long shot. Today she was getting a tattoo, come hell or high water.
Xander was supposed to take her, well, he’d agreed to take her. Technically Jack was supposed to be with her for this. But Jack wasn’t in Texas any more. Jack didn’t write anymore. Jack’s name wasn’t mentioned anymore.
Regardless, Xander, later, tattoo parlor. As soon as he called or she dragged herself out of bed. And then, a party, nothing big. Just the pack, ‘Wulf truth’, as they’d taken to calling themselves after that accidental murder. She yawned, pulling a pillow against her stomach, eighteen and too lazy to celebrate.

Xander himself woke up around noon. Rather, he rolled out of bed around noon and woke up a few moments later with an undignified thump as he landed on the ground. He picked himself up, grumbling incoherantly until he got himelf a cup of coffee ad checkedd over his plans for the day. Dishes, shower, going with Cassie to get her tattoo, maybe check into the prices for one for himself. Then a party, laundry, and sleep. Thank God for weekends, when he was a bit LESS busy than normal, he sighed. The working life sucked, majorly. Shaking his head, he crossed off 'dihes and went to take a quick shower, calling Cass whan he was still dripping wet and wrapped in a towel.

Cass groaned, slapping at the side table fruitlessly before snagging the phone, turning it on, and dropping in near her head all in one fluid motion. She didn’t bother to answer, anyone who knew her would just start talking while she tried to wake up, anyone else she couldn’t give two f**ks about.

"Hey Cass, it's me." Xander stated. He always spoke as if to an answering machine until she was awake enough to say something. "Iiiit's.... almost noon, she's better get moving to the shop if you want to get inked before your party."

“Hey.” Cass murmured groggily after a pause. She rolled sideways, feet dangling off the edge of the bed in a failed attempt to get up. “Happy birthday to you too.”

"Well, I was gonna say that when I knew you were awake enough to hear me..." Xander said sheepishly. "Congrats on the big 18, Cassie."

"I'll be right over." Xander chuckled, hanging up with no more of a goodbye than that.

Cass stayed awake just long enough to turn off the phone and roll back into place, pulling the spare pillow against her.

It was a bare minute before Xander was dresed and out the door, leaving his longish hair dripping wet. It was only 5 more minutes before he sped up to Cass' place, leaving the car doors unlocked, ad knocked on the door.

Cassandra’s father opened the door, looked at Xander over his news paper, sighed, and shuffled back into the kitchen. Trying to keep out Cass’ friends was like trying to keep out ants. Maybe he’d lay out traps.

"Nice to see you, too." Xander called after the man, keeping his smirk hidden before we walked down the hall to Cassie's room and knocked.

“If you’re not Xander, go away.” Cass groaned. She didn’t care if the maid was here and wanted to clean her room. It was her birthday and she wasn’t moving until she had to.
