Character's Name; Tuomas Sihvonen (Finnish born, raised locally)
Name you want to be called;
Character’s Nickname(s); 'Tom is fine'
Race; Human
Grade; Senior
Age; 17
Birthday; 2nd april
History; In the first year or two of his life, his family made a few moves and settled in cold creek. His upbringing was typified by over-protectiveness, optimist pseudo-philosophy and rather traditional parents. He adopted a ‘silver-lining’ outlook strongly and likes to think he powers through life with it, but nothing he has done stands out as extraordinary. His intransigent belief in good outcomes has made him a little diehard, but he avoids the hard-bitten situations in which this trait might be useful.
As part of his thinking friendship is very important, but while none dislike Tom and many know him well enough to greet him in passing, it never seem to extend so far as a close friendship. As a result he has plenty of spare time and this may have made him a bit of a neat freak. He lives with his parents, and is currently resolving not to ‘try too hard’ when it comes to making friends. He tends to be the most over the top optimistic and will often berate others for their negativity. He does his best to be articulate and knowledgeable but his blind, almost fatalistic optimism instils a certain a greatly naïve aspect to him. So he is blissfully unaware of the obstacles of, say, world peace.
Important Relationships; his parents, particularly his mother. It's often said by his relatives that he takes after her most and it's important to him that they get along; he often doesn't get approval from peers, so he seeks it in his family.
Mannerisms; A sizeable and easily triggered smile, a peculiar cringe made in response to things deemed 'unagreeable'.
Fears/Dislikes; people who don't smile often enough, spicy and bitter foods, anyone with 'fringe' looks or ideas
Likes; any music that is catchy, other overly happy individuals, volunteer work and charity.
Hobbies; painting (landscape mostly), organizing, tennis
Music; the catchy, the popular, or the classic, like that heard at every wedding or 21st birthday
Appearance;
Tall, blonde, walks with verve, pretty lean. He would look less pretty boy were it not for the hair, which he keeps pretty short but poorly controlled.
Personality;
Happy-go-lucky, optimistic or saccharine would be simple and accurate summaries of Tuomas.
Sample RP intro;
“Er, no that’s fine. Hang on a sec, I can fix this. Most of it went on the floor anyway” Tom said. The packet had resisted him for a bit and as a result, salt littered the kitchen floor, bench, and most obnoxiously the pizza dough mix Tuomas was preparing for three visitors, study buddies here on assignment. They nervously but politely watched him try to save it. “Hey, at least you’ll get your daily intake, right?” he said, with a tone making it unclear if he was being humorous. A few of them offered polite return smiles. “Maybe I can save it if I put on extra sauce. And more pineapple! That‘ll counteract the salinity with sweetness. Genius, eh?”
His study buddies, however, forgave him for the strange tropical salt-dough creation he made, because he did his fair share of the work - and then some. In fact he ended up doing most of the work for little credit, and it was about the time that his contribution was rated as ‘poor’ for the third time that he realized this. He needed to branch out, actually get to know some people, earn some trust. But everyone in this town was so…maladjusted. ‘I’m being harsh here’ he thought ‘I just need to give others a chance. I’m sure, deep down, there’s a happy, hopeful centre to the rough exterior I see all the time’.
