Thinking back, maybe it was the watches that made the switch possible. Twin timepieces somehow connecting both worlds. Or it could have been that both Cassandras led a nearly identical day for the first and last time in either of their lives. Either way, all either Cassie knew was that for one hour and thirty two minutes, their Xander went missing after they gave the watches to him. The ‘Were Cassandra, the one with a long scar cutting off center through her lips, pulling her mouth into a constant sneer, let out a relieved sigh when she heard Xander’s key in the lock. He had left over an hour ago without saying goodbye and she was worried that he was mad at her, or hadn’t liked the watch. She stood up and twisted her wedding ring around her finger nervously as she watched him come in, relieved to see that he was at least still wearing the watch. She smiled at him a little unsurely. “You’re back.”
The Alpha Cassandra, who didn’t need a scar to pull her lips into a constant sneer, growled a little at the sound of Xander’s approach. She had given him a watch, one she’d found in some antique store, and he’d thanked her but was gone when she came back into the living room with beers. She’d drank all the beers and was a little annoyed that she hadn’t thought of leaving herself so he’d come home to an empty apartment. But then she wouldn’t get to yell at him. She stood up, growling at him before he was even properly through the door. “Where the f**k have you been?”

Xander. Two Xanders. In a way, they almost felt each other's presence at some point during that hour and a half, a little over. It was surreal, like a drug trip, which he'd had plenty of throughout his life. There was no sight or smell where they were, somewhere between dimensions. Neither of them was either there, but something was, and in an instant they recognized themselves. For a moment, they were the same person, and then gone again. They both knew without a shadow of a doubt it had happened.
But they both had long known they weren't always all there in the perception department. Or sanity. One dismissed it completely. But there were other things to worry about.
Xander Dean, the poor whipped puppy of his unannounced girlfriend let himself into his apartment, mentally rehearsing excuses. I mean, who disappeared right after getting a gift, and woke up in their truck on top of a hill a few miles from home? Not to mention all the weird things that happened in the middle. If he told Cass what really happened- not that it had happened, since it hadn't- She not only wouldn't believe him, she's be even madder. He should have brought flowers. He hadn't even gotten inside when he noticed everything was wrong. He frowned, confused.
Another Xander Dean, high school dropout, leader of a pack and married to his own pet werewolf was hit by the smell of stale cigarettes and spilled beer the moment he got back from the same trek in his truck. He scowled, surprised to hear an annoyed voice raise at him. "What the f**k have you been drinking?" he shot back at her, the smells around making the fact that something had changed.

“Xander…?” Cass took a tiny set forward, biting her lip as she noticed that he’d changed clothes and wasn’t wearing his wedding band. “Are you okay?”
“Beer.” Cass glared slightly as she looked him over. Something, his scent maybe, made her wish that Frank was home. “Gonna answer my question?”

"What's going on? Cass?" Xander bit his lip and stared at her, frowning. "Of course I'm okay..... what's wrong?"
Alpha xander frowned. "You know you're not supposed to be drinking. Or smoking. why is this place such a f**k**g mess?"

“Nothing’s wrong.” Cass bit her lip before shuffling forward to hug him. “It’s just… you left and I thought you were mad at me.”
“Gonna give me a curfew too?” Cass sneered, lighting up a new cigarette to spite him. “You know why it’s a mess. Tell me where you’ve been.”

"N-no, Cass..." Xander gave her a gentle hug. "I just... I was gone, you know?"
Xander gave a soft snarl and snatched the cigarette out of her mouth, throwing it on the floor. "Cass."

“I was worried.” Cass whimpered.
“What?!” Cass snarled at him, grinding the cigarette into the carpet with the toe of her shoe.

“It’s okay,” Cass glanced up at him, her scar making her smile a little lopsided. “I’m glad you’re not mad.”
“Tell me where you’ve been and I’ll consider it.” Cass snapped.

Xander blinked, stepping back away from her
"I was in the twilight zone." xander rolled his eyes

“Xand?” Cass frowned slightly, biting her lip.
“Whatever.” Cass stepped away from him, putting the coffee table between them before lighting another cigarette.

"You're a werewolf." Xander said, his upper lip curling in a snarl
"Like hell I don't!" Xander snapped. "I own this place."

Cass whimpered, her bottom lip trembling as she took a small step towards him. “Why are you doing this?”
“Yeah, yeah,” Cass rolled her eyes at him. “Your name’s on the checks.” She laughed and shook her head. “Sweetheart, you don’t make enough to cover the electricity bill most months.”

xander frowned and reached forward, trembling a little, to touch her scar
Xander growled and shoved past Cass, heading towards the kitchen

"I don't know what's wrong...." xander said quietly. "But something is very, very wrong...." he touched the wedding ring on her finger
Xander ignored her, knocking things off shelves in search of his vodka bottle

“You lost yours,” Cass sighed, looking down at her ring. “Do you want me to call Frank for you?”
“Hey!” Cass yelled a little louder, pulling on his arm. “What the- You’re cleaning this up!”

"Where's my vodka?" Xander growled
