Xander shook his head mutely. "She's not you, Cassandra."

“It hurts,” Cass whimpers. “Watching.”

"I can't..." xander started, then stopped, looking scared. "I don't want to die. I'm sorry, I just....."

“Xand-“ Cass sounded insulted, mostly to hide the disappointment. “I would never ask you to.”

"You are, though..." Xander said sadly. "It's what you want, isn't it?"

“No, Xand,” Cass sighed. “I said I’d wait, but… I can’t…”

"What is it you're saying, then?" Xander asked a bit coldly.

"Don't be like that, don't you dare." Cass warned. "Not after you made me wait here seven years."

"I didn't make you do anything, Cass." Xander said offhandedly. "I can't make you do anything and I never could."

"Maddie, you're missing the movie, hon." Carrie peered into the study, a slightly tense smile on her face "Am I missing something improtant in here or what?"

“Maddie,” Cass shook her head, stopping the girl from repeating her. “Thank you for helping me.” Xander didn’t want to be with her because he didn’t love her enough, and she couldn’t wait because she didn’t love him enough, or maybe because she was being spiteful.
“No, Sally.” Maddie whined. “You can’t leave, you’re still sad.”
Cass frowned, looking at Carrie.
“Mommy!” Maddie whimpered, close to tears. “Don’t let Sally leave.”

Carrie quickly hurried to her daughter, stroking her hair comfortingly. "Well, I can't see Sally, baby girl, but I'll try." She looked across the room, deciding to humor the five year old, strangley directly at Cass. She half-smiled. "C'mon, Sally, don't leave yet. Please?" She looked back to her child.
"Is she still here, Mads?"

Cass stepped to one side, unnerved by Carrie’s gaze. “Like you aren’t thrilled that I’m gone, like you would have any of this if I hadn’t died.”
“Daddy,” Mad whimpered, bottom lip quivering.

"What, Mads?" Xander rowed, hugging his daugher. "Carrie, I--...." he sighed

Carrie looked up, frowning slightly. "Der Der, what's the matter?"

“Tell her not to leave,” Mad started to cry, loudly, when Cass turned.

Xander stood, silently, wondering exactly what it was he should do

Carrie scooped up their daughter, trying her best to calm the hysterical child.

“Damnit, kid, shut up.” Cass growled, sighing. “I’ll stay, just cut the waterworks.”
“ ‘Kay.” Maddie beamed. Cass rolled her eye, glancing at Xander.
“That’s why I didn’t want kids.”

Carrie smiled at Maddie lovingly. "Everything okay now, sugar?"
