"Der Der, stop it!" Carrie swatted Xander's hands off the back of her wheelchair. She smiled at him over her shoulder, reclining in her chair. Randy and the other doctors she'd seen had insisted she stay off her feet while she recooperated. "You know you don't have to dout on me like this. Seriously." Over the past few months of her recovery, something Randy said was nothing short of miracules, Carrie had kept mostly quiet over the fact she loved all the attention she was getting from Xander and his slight coldness toward Cassandra.
"Where're you taking me, anyway?" She rolled down the paved park path, looking around at the ice-covered tree braches glistening in the quarter moon light and street lamps. Wow, she'd had no idea Virginia could be so beautiful in the late winter/early spring.

"Somewhere secret." Xander grinned, walking along behind the wheelchair, as if ready to grab it at any moment. "Which is why you should let me push you, crazy carrie."

Carrie smiled up at him teasingly, her hazel eyes twinkling more than they had in months. She shook her head, her straightened brown-black hair swishing around her face. "And why is it secret, huh? I'm gonna bug you till you tell me."

"Because I don't wanna tell you yet." Xander chuckled back. "Now, are you gonna let me push or are we gonna have to turn around?"

"...Oh, you're mean." Carrie stopped wheeling her chair, shooting Xander a faux pout. A smile tugged at the corners of her mouth as she looked up at him.

"I could make you close your eyes..." Xander grinned, starting to push her again.

"Now that'd just be cruel." Carrie laughed, reclinging in the chair. She let her eyes flutter closed on their own, sighing happily.

"Yes, but then you couldn't come back here without me." Xander said with a smile

"And why would I wanna do that?" Carrie opened her eyes and looked back at him, her grin crooked. "You know how lonely I get."

"Ah, well, maybe someday you'll find someone else you wat to take to places." Xander said softly

"Maybe..." Carrie slowly looked away. After a moment she laughed. "But I doubt it. I meean, c'mon, I know I'm a bombshell, but who'd wanna put up with me? Guy or girl, that'd have their hands full."

"Ah, I'm sure you'll find someone." Xander shrugged

Carrie sighed. "Oh, I'll find someone. A whole lot of someones but they won't last long. Either get fed up with my wildness or I'll get bored with them. It's the natural cycle of things."

"You never know, Cars." Xander's hand found it's way from the wheelchair to her shoulder, resting there warmly. "You never know what'll happen."

Carrie smiled, turning around again. "Yeah, I guess so..."
"Hey, are we there yet?"

"Not for a few months now, no." Carrie's smile twitched and faded slightly. Sometimes it was hard for her to believe she'd really almost died. She was almost a little disappointed.
Almost. She'd barked at Cassandra, gave Xander and Jack the cold shoulder, she'd even made up with her parents and for what? A few months of relaxing with Xander waiting on her hand and foot. Okay, so maybe it wasn't so bad.

"Here we are." Xander announced with a smile, stopping and putting Carrie's wheelchair brake on. They were at the top of a slight overhang that he'd found, near the edge of the park. Instead of looking out over the city, however, they had a spectacular view of the forests and meadows outside the gity, all dusted with a good layer of snow.
