It had been one of those days where Cain just wanted to go home and see the wife. One of those days, he hoped, where they’d just sit down and watch a movie to make up for the other wise shitty condition of the entire day.
He opened the door from the garage, slipping inside to drop his shoes on the mat beside the door. “Rosie?” He asked softly, slipping from the kitchen into the living room, he didn’t want to wake her up if she was sleeping, he didn’t think being pregnant was an easy thing. At least from the look of it, it wasn’t easy.
But the television was on, so she probably wasn’t sleeping. She wasn’t even in the room; well, so much for trying to be quiet. “Honey, I’m home!” He yelled up the stairwell, shrugging his jacket off, and retreating back to the sofa. Surely she’d heard that.

There was the sound of heavy footsteps down the stairs. Wika appeared in the doorway, her head almost touching the top of the frame at her full 6 feet. "She went for a walk, Dad." She walked over to the sofa and plopped next to her father.
Her long blond hair, tipped with Cain's chocolatey brown, was piled messily on top of her head, her creamy skin was devoid of make-up, as usual. She was dressed in a pair of gray sweatpants and a white tanktop. It was odvious which parent her looks had come from, though she acted more like Cain everyday.
"She was hyper again." The eightteen year old sighed and picked up the TV remote, clicking the television to life. "God, I never wanna get pregnant. I mean, yesterday all she wnated to do was sleep and today she cleaned the entire house...even the garage. And before you start lecturing me on how I should have gotten her to stay in bed, she threatened to hide all the chocolate in the house."
"...You really think I'm gonna defy her when chocolate comes into the mix?"

“Wika, she’s your mother,” Cain huffed, shaking his head. The girl acted way to much like him sometimes, and other times he wondered if he’d ever been so air-headed. “Chocolate should always come second. I’d give up my car for the woman. I don’t think chocolate is that big of a sacrifice.”
He shook his head again, getting up and starting for the kitchen, “Did she say where she was headed? When she’d be back? Take a cell phone? Anything?”

Wika stared at him as he walked out of the room. Give up his car?! Wow...That was something hse'd never expect to hear in her lifetime. She'd have to check for the Apocolyptic Horsemen later, though.
"She said she was just heading to the store, be back in about fifteen minutes, left ten minutes ago, and yes, she has her cell phone." She answered every question in one breath. "You know, Dad, you do tend to be a little overprotective of Mom. I mean, yeah, she's pregnant again...and I still shudder to think of how that came to be...but she does pretty well around the house. I mean, she hasn't fallen down the stairs more than twice."

Cain choked on the drink of orange juice he was currently drinking out of the bottle as he stood with the fridge door standing wide open. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand before, slamming the cap back on and sliding it back in the ice box.
“What?!?” He was heading for the phone. “Wika, falling down steps at all is bad. I’m calling her and telling her to get home right now. Before she kills herself. The doctor told her to stay rested. Going to the store is not staying rested.”
He dialed the number before Wika could protest. Someone picked up on the first ring. “Rose, honey, you should come home right now.”

Wika rolled her hazel eyes, heaving a heavy sigh. "I was kidding, Dad. It was a joke. She hasn't even tripped over her feet that I've seen. Jeez..." She pondered wither he was like this when her mother had been pregnant the first time. Most likely.
Rose giggled. "Cain, I'm at the front door right now." She front door creaked open and a few seconds later she appeared in the kitchen, holding a brown paper bag full of various things. "I felt like cooking and we were out of some stuff, so I just ran down to the store." She put the bag down on the kitchen table. She was wearing a nice fitting pair of jeans with silky burgandy maternity blouse that actually looked very nice on the her fairly small baby bump belly.
"Did I miss any calls?" She looked to her daughter.

Cain shot Wika a look as Rose’s voice sounded on the other end of the line. “Wika, don’t ‘joke’ like that,” he growled, slamming the phone back down, harder then he’d meant too. “Remember, I can’t take a joke.”
He shook his head before starting for the table, trying to be helpful out with Rose feeling like he was babying her again. “Here, babe, let me help,” he was already on his way to fridge with something. “You really shouldn’t have gone without someone; didn’t Randy warn us about carrying things over five pounds?” He was getting a little stressed about this, and he wasn’t the one carrying around a kid twenty-four seven.
“Okay, let’s try this again,” he walked over to Rose and kissed her cheek. “It’s good to be home. Council sucked, how was your day?”

Rose smiled and hugged him as tight as she could without her stomach getting in the way. "Aw, so what else is new?" She giggled lightly and kissed his lips. Wika pretended to gag at this sight.
"It was fine." She laughed. "I've actually been feeling more energetic today than I have all week. And the bag only weighs four and a half pounds. I checked."

Cain pretended to be grumpy, as he patting Rose’s stomach lightly. “You better have checked.” He kissed Rose again just to see if they got the same reaction from Wika the second kiss around. He thought it amusing how their daughter still didn’t like to see them show public affection.
He turned back toward the fridge. “So, what’s for dinner? I’m starving.” His head was already buried in the fridge, “Wika, I think it’s your turn to make something.” When he turned back around he was clutching the bottle of orange juice from earlier. “I’m going to watch t.v. now.” Three seconds later he was plopped down on the sofa and flipping threw channels.

Wika wrinkled her nose. "PDA for parents...not right...:" She muttered under her breath. She looke dat her mother. "You go on and hang out with Dad, Ma. I'll heat up some tenderloin from last night and call it cooked."
Rose smiled. "Are you sure, sweetie? I really don't mind."
Wika shook her head. "No, go lay down, Doctor's, and daughter's, orders." She glanced at her mother's stomahc, a smile twitching at her lips. "Wouldn't want anything to happen to my new brother or sister, right?"
Reluctantly, Rose walked into the living room and sat down heavilly next to Cain, moaning quietly, "Phew, my feet hurt now..." After a few seconds she looked at him with a bright grin. "Hey, Cainy pie, let's watch The Princess Bride! Hm? It'll be fun!" Even in the weeks before she discovered she was pregnant again, Rose had developed a strange obsession with the movie, watching it constantly. By now, she, her husband, her daughter and probably even the baby could recite the entire movie by heart.

Cain closed his eyes, hoping she hadn’t just asked to watch what he was pretty sure she’d asked to watch. “Aww, babe, can’t we watch something else? I can only take “as you wish” so many times before I start to say it in my sleep.”

Rose's lower lip started trembling slightly. "But-but it's my favorite movie...why don't you wanna watch it with me?"
"It's because I take up most of the couch now, isn't it?" Her eyes flashed angrily. "Well, Cain, I can't help it! You're the one who did this to me!" She turned away and floded her arms across her chest, a wolf-like growl emiting from her throat.

Cain sighed. He knew the feeling of being an ass very well, and it was multiplied ten fold with his wife’s condition.
“Rosie, it’d not that I don’t want to watch it with you, just well.” He was rubbing his eye with the back of his palm. “I don’t want to watch it with anyone.”
He was trying to sneak an arm around her, his voice softer, “Eh, c’mon, honey, you don’t take anymore space now then you did before the whole baby thing. And the last time I checked, it took two for this to happen…”

Rose turned around to look at him, her eyes softer. She scooted over and curled up against her husband's chest, sighing heavilly.
"I'm sorry, Cainy pookie pie...I really am." Tears started flooding in her eyes as she wrapped her arms around. She started sobbing loudly. "I'm just so overly emotional!"

Oh God, they hadn’t gone threw this with Wika. Not that Cain remembered anyway.
“Shhh, its okay, Rosie, I know,” he was patting her hair with one hand and holding her close with the other. The sad truth was that the woman was a snuggler. “It’s not your fault, we’ll watch the Princess Bride if you still want too. Just stop crying, okay? It’s just the baby, it’ll pass.”
Wow, Cain hadn’t really noticed that Rose was a gaining a little weight, but she definitely felt heavier then she had three months before. “C’mon, if you’ll move a little, I’ll put the DVD on. Okay?”

Rose raised her head, tears still dripping down her cheeks. "R-Really...?" She sniffed softly then a smile broke out on her face. "Alrighty then!"
"Wicked!" She called in a sing-songy voice towards the kitchen. "C'mon, honey, we're gonna watch The Princess Bride!"
Wika walked into the living room with a heavy sigh. "Mom, you know I like watching the movie with you two, but I've got dinner to finish, my cat to feed, laying with said cat, and annoying the hell out of dad by doing that previous two tasks. I'm swamped."
Her mother laughed. She always loved playing this quote game with her daughter. "Come on overhere and get some rest. If you haven;t got your health, you haven't got anything."

Cain sighed. Lord how he wanted this movie to burn and for the company to never ever make another copy. “If you two shut up, it’ll be a miracle.”
Cain was trying to get the case open; the little plastic tabs on the DVD case always gave him trouble. “Okay, there,” he pushed the button on the player to make the disc slid in, before going back to the couch. “Dear, you’ve gotta move a little. I can’t fit right there in the corner.”

Rose shot a look at him. "And just what does THAT mean?! You're saying I'm getting fat aren't you?!"
Wika massaged her forehead, sighing. "No, Mom. Dad, I'll sit in the corner, you get on the other side." She walked over and plopped where Cain was going to sit. Rose smiled, seeming to forget her misplaced anger.

“It means you got bigger, I was already big, I can’t fit there anymore,” Cain half grumbled, plopping down next to Rose. “Okay, we’re all sit for yet another exciting night of The Princess Bride,” he said with a fake smile as he pulled Rose over closer to him.
