“Of course, honey, who else is going to help me?” Cam grinned as she hit the bottom step.
“Oh, yeah I do have a husband, but he isn’t good for much. Besides, you know you love it.”

"Ah not the work so much." Barb laughed. "It's good to spend time with you though, Cam."

“Yeah, well, hopefully the rest of the crew will think so too, and actually show up in a few minutes,” She placed her tray on the table already piled full of food.

Ah, of course the will." Barb set the cookies down. "Why wouldn't they?"

Cam put a hand on her hip, pointing to the ceiling with the other hand. “Hello, you saw the reason three minutes ago.”

"Oh, come on." Barb sighed. "He's not THAT bad."

Cam smiled, “That’s because he likes you, try living with him, or being on his bad list. Then I’ll ask you if he’d not THAT bad.”

Barb stopped short, blinking a few times. "Wait, he likes me?"

“I know hard to believe,” Cam sighed, giggling as she started back up the stairs before turning around and starting right back down. “Forgot to make sure the phone was plugged in down here, Abel has a bad habit of turning it off.”
A moment later she’d bent down in a corner, before the phone on the table beeped and the little red light came on. “There we go, now what were we talking about? Oh yes,” she had already started back up the stairs. “He thinks you’re funny. Which surprises me because I’m married to him and didn’t even know he knew what funny was.”

"Ah, well...." Barb blushed slightly. "Maybe he just told you that cause he thought you'd be happy if he liked at least one of your friends. I mean, pretended to like."

“Oh, poo, listen to yourself woman, you’re giving him way too much credit.” She said as she hit the top step. “He doesn’t care if I want him to agree, like, look at, or talk too, my friends. Besides, I’d just get mad if he were pretending.”

"Ooh., Cam mad." Barb teased her friend. "Now THAT'S scary. Maybe that's why people don't come?"

“Oh, you’d think scary, if you got to see it,” Cam replied. It was hard to imagine Cam in anything but a good mood, or anything less than nice. But it was bad when she was finally pushed to the point where she wasn’t interested in being nice anymore.

"Ah, well, don't make fun of my hair and I wont make you mad." Barb smiled, selfconsciously touching her blond locks. She'd recently cut her hair short and started curling it.

“Deal,” Cam said as she walked into the kitchen, shaking her head as she looked at Abel still reading his newspaper.
“What are making deals about this time?” He asked, actually putting the paper all the way down on the bar top for a moment.
“Barbie’s hair,” Cam replied simply, digging around in the fridge for something caffeine free. “You want something Barb?” She asked, ‘ah-ha’ing as she found the caffeine free soda shoved all the way in the back.
“You’re not cutting yours, Cam, so just dismiss the thoughts,” Abel added, his paper becoming interesting again.
“I didn’t say I was, why, don’t you like Barb’s hair?”
“I like it just fine. On Barb, not Cam.”
“Well, fine, but Mr. Grumpy-Pants I never even said anything about cutting it, did I Barbie?” She’d dug out two cans of soda, now she was standing on her tip toes to get two glasses out of the cabinet. “Ice or no ice, Barb?”

"Ice, hon." Barb called distractedly, before turning her gaze on Abel.
"Cam's too much of a little doll for short hair." she grinnedd. "Me, I figured short suits an old crone like me."

“Dolls don’t have short hair?” He asked, turning another page. “Besides, who said you were an old crone? What you weigh, hundred pounds soaking wet?” That must have amused him for a moment, because he was laughing to himself now.
“Abel, don’t be mean to Barb, she’s just build small.” Cam was handing a glass to Barbie.
“I wasn’t being mean, I was picking, there’s a difference. Right, Barb?”

"Hey, guilty as charged." Barb laughed. "Why would I be insulted at being called skinny?"
"And, if you'd ever been around dolls, Abel, you'd know the short haired ones always look funny. I'm talking about the porcelain ones with the ling hair and the fancy dresses Oh, Cam, that's what I should do! I should make a dress for you! I'll do that." she nodded, though anyone knowing her for more than 5 minutes would know that it would never actually get done.

“Well, you see, Barb, I don’t really make a point to hang around dolls,” Abel said, trying to let it show that Barb really did crack him up. “But I’ll take your word for it.”
“You do that, Honey,” Cam said, shaking her head, as she started for the bar stool beside of Abel. “C’mon, Barb might as well get a seat. Looks like the rest of the crew got lost.”

"You hang around Cam. Same diff." Barb winked at him. "Though, if you hadn't believed me, I'd have to go out and buy you some." she shrugged slightly
she moved Abel's paper out of the way andhopped up on the bar counter, where she could see the both of them without having to turn her head. "You know as well as I do that Evan has never, EVER been on time. Now's no different, hon."
