Yuri Feir cuddled closer to her boyfriend, Ulrich Briefs, on the dance floor.
It was the annual Halloween party at their High School, and the entire group was there. Yuri was dressed as a Geine. Her straight black hair with red streaks was flowing free down her back, almost to her waist. Her outfit consisted of a red tube top with a sheer pinkish-red material sewn at the edges for an off-the-shoulder look along with a long red skirt with slits cut up the sides. Since she knew her parents would never let her out of the house in that costume, she’d worn a long trench coat and told them she was going as a secret agent.
Yuri smiled. She loved Ulrich so much. His spiked jet-black hair with white bangs was wild around his face, which was painted white with splashes of red, blue and yellow on various parts of his face and neck. His clothes were actually fairly normal, consisting of a white T-shirt and jeans. It had been Yuri’s idea for him to come as a clown, but Ulrich had refused to wear a puffy outfit with huge shoes.
Her crimson eyes moved off the dance floor to see Dracula in a corner kissing a black cat. She stifled a giggle. <Vinny makes such an adorable vampire. And Tsu’s black tank top and pants look so great with her dark red hair.>
Yuri heard someone giggle and grinned as her best friend Rose Kitsune and her boyfriend, Ulrich “brother” Kite, came over to them.
"Hey, Yurs!" Rose grinned. She was dressed as an angel. Her long silver hair with violet streaks was flowing down her back, set off by the knee-length snow-white dress she wore with a pair of white wings attached to the back of her dress and a pair of her normal silver slippers on her feet. The silver fox ears that sat atop her head were perked up and her silver foxtail swished happily behind her.
"Nice costume, Kite. Very fitting" Ulrich joked to Kite.
Kite was dressed as a doctor, the profession he’d always wanted to go into. He had a stethoscope around his neck along with a white lab coat with a pale blue dress-shirt with brown slacks. “Thanks.” He said simply.
“HI!” Shizuru ran over to her friends, dragging Hiten behind her.
Vincent pulled away from Tsubana and blinked at the two. “Um . . . Hiten, what are you?”
Hiei's son sighed. “Luke Skywalker . . . It was mom’s idea . . .”
Shizuru grinned proudly. “And I’m a French maid!” She twirled around in her ultra short, puffy black and white dress. Her bright red hair was pulled up into a tight bun on top of her head with her bright blue bangs puffed out on her forehead.
"Hey, there's Tammy and Shigeki," Rose pointed out and walked over to the cute pink-haired 13-year-old who was dressed as a princess in a long red gown with a sparkling diamond tiara on her head. Shigeki’s spiky, electric blue hair was gelled back and he had on a pair of stiletto heels with a knee-length black dress he’d most likely borrowed from his younger sister.
"Hi Rosie!" Tammy waved.
“Oh, what an adorable princess costume, Tammy.” Tsubana smiled, walking over to the three.
"Who says it's a costume?" Shigeki teased, putting an arm around Tammy.
“Oh! Terry, let‘s dance!” Azure Briefs grinned and pulled her stepbrother/boyfriend, Terry, onto the dance floor. Azure was Vincent, Kite, Ulrich, Tammy and Terry’s stepsister. Their father had married her adoptive mother when they were very young. She was dressed in a white suit similar to that of a Navy officer while Terry had a sheet with eyeholes cut into it.
“Ters, you know Jamie is going to be pissed that you ruined one of her good sheets.” Azure giggled as she danced with him.
“Yeah. So? I’ll die happy.”
<><><><>
"Attention all dance goers!" A voice over the P.A. system announced, "We need to evacuate the school! I repeat evacuate the school!" Everyone ran for the exits, pushing other people out of the way.
"Hey! Watch it!" Tammy squeaked as someone shoved her out of the way. The crew were the last ones to get out of the gym but by the time they got to the doors, they were locked.
"Hey! Let us out!" Ulrich barked, banging his fists on the doors.
"Its no use, bro." Terry sighed. "These doors are locked tighter that a freeze lock bag.”
Vinny spoke up. "Why don't Ulrich and me go around the school and see if we can find a door that wasn't locked?"
"Good idea, Vinny. Come on!" Ulrich glanced at his friends. "Terry, Shi, Hiten, and Kite, you guys stay here with the girls."
"Ulrich Vincent Briefs are you saying that we girls can't take care of ourselves?" Yuri glared at her boyfriend and tapped her foot.
"No. I'm telling you girls to make sure they don't get into any trouble. Especially you, Terry." Ulrich said pointing to the guys.
"Sure, we can do that," Azure nodded and latched onto her stepbrother’s arm.
"We‘ll be back soon as we can! Love you, Yurs!" Ulrich called as he and Vincent jogged off.
<><><><>
“Well, the phone’s dead.” Tammy grumbled, walking over from the office down the hall.
“Ulrich and Vincent have been gone a long time. . .” Hiten said, looking up at the ceiling from his place of leaning on one of the lockers.
"C’mon. We’d better go look for them.” Kite said. The group agreed and started walking down the empty corridors searching for their friends.
Yuri stopped by a janitor's laundry basket and fideled with the gold bracelet on her wrist. It slipped off her slender wrist and fell into the basket.
"Damn," She whispered and rummaged through the garbage, which was just a bunch sports towels. Her hand brushed something sharp. "Ouch!" She exclaimed pulling her hand away. "What in the world?" She rummaged through to see what had poked her.
And then wished she hadn't.
"Oh!" Yuri moaned in fright as she saw a pair of hazel eyes staring at her. Familiar hazel eyes.
She tried to hold it back but couldn't help it. She screamed. The gang immediately ran toward Rose, to find her in hysterics, screaming and sobbing.
"Yuri, what . . .?" Azure said but screamed as soon as she saw what her friend had seen.
Ulrich was lying in the basket, dead. Blood ran down his painted-white face and his white T-shirt from where something that had bashed his head in, reveling the top of his cracked skull.
Terry didn't bother to look in it since Yuri was sobbing Ulrich's name over and over. Terry walked over to his girlfriend, who was still sobbing uncontrollably, and held her close, trying to calm her down.
There was silence for several minutes, only the sound of Tsubana, Tammy and Azure’s crying and Rose’s soft whimpers were heard.
"What killed him?" Tammy asked softly, breaking the silence.
Kite looked at his brother’s body, trying not to gag from the smell of the blood and chocking back tears. "Looks like somebody beat his head in."
"Maybe we should go find Vinny," Rose suggested, still shaking. "You know, to see if he knows what happened."
Tsubana walked over to a locker and examined the many dents in it. "I think I found the murder weapon." She was trembling slightly. The locker was ajar and some kind of red substance leaking from the bottom; Tsubana jiggled it open, and found something that would stay with her for the rest of her life.
Vincent stared back at her, a huge hole in his chest from where someone, or something, had literally ripped his heart out of his chest. A shock of his white bangs fell in front of his face. His hazel eyes stared lifelessly straight ahead. His mouth hung open in a silent scream of pain and horror. Clotting blood covered the chest of his white dress shirt. Tsubana didn't have to wonder how he was staying up; a brass coat hook in the back of the locker was forced into his back. But the thing that really made the girl want to vomit was that his heart was on the floor of the locker.
"Tsu, what's . . .?" Tammy's voice trailed off when she looked inside the locker and a tormented scream escaped he lips.
Rose walked over to her friend. "T-Tams, calm down,"
Tammy felt the sanity leave her body and she burst out laughing. "Clam down? Calm down! How can I calm down when two of my brothers are dead?!"
"Maybe we should split up. So we can cover more ground and see if we can catch the killer." Terry muttered, fighting back tears at the sight of his late brothers.
"Good idea." Shigeki agreed. “I’ll go with Tams. Kite, you go with Rose make sure she doesn't lose it again,"
"I think it's a little late for that," Rose commented, staring off into space with a blank look in her violet eyes.
"Yuri, you go with Tsubana. Shizuru, you're with Hiten, and Azure and Terry are together. Oh, and here, I found these walky-talkies in the janitor’s closet." Shigeki concluded handing each of them a walkie-talkie.
<><><>
“Shi! Shi-kun, where are you?" Tammy whispered angrily in the second floor science room. "Why is it so hot in here?" She moaned quietly.
A can of coke sat on one of the counters. Tammy picked it up and examined it. It was still closed and cold. She opened it and greedily drank about half the can. Almost immediately clutched her throat and started to choked. She fell to her knees and lay on the floor, unmoving.
<><><><>
Shigeki stood at the top of the stairs, wondering where Tammy could have gone. He was so busy wondering he didn't here the sound of the killer's footsteps behind him. He felt strong hands on his back as the killer pushed him down the whole flight of stairs. The blue-haired teenager only heard the sound of his neck breaking. He hadn’t even had the chance to scream.
<><><><>
Tsubana ran through the school pulling at every door she saw, trying to get out. She had somehow gotten away from Yuri and was trying franticly to get out of the school. Her long dark red hair was greasy from sweat and her black cat-ear headband had been lost long ago. Tsu pulled at another door and, miraculously, it opened.
She ran out into the parking lot and saw Vincent’s white Jeep, parked right where he’d left it. She rushed to it but, to her horror, the car started on its own and came searing straight at her!
Tsu screamed and turned to ran. The car sped up. Her back was pressed against the brick wall of the school as the Jeep came ramming right into her.
Bright red blood splattered across the hood of the white car as, with a choked cry, the young woman slumped on the hood, dead, blood trickling from the side her mouth.
<><><><>
The killer stepped out of the car and examined Tsubana's body. Blood covered the front of her black tank top and her dark blue eyes were dull and lifeless. With a confident smirk, the killer walked away in the direction of the school.
<><><><>
Hiten splashed the cold water from the full sink onto his face and looked at his reflection in the locker room mirror. His crimson eyes were red and puffy from crying, which he rarely ever did. His dark black hair was slicked back with water.
He just couldn't believe it. Shigeki Minamino, his best friend, was dead. He’d seen his friend’s body while exploring the halls. He was so upset he didn't see the killer coming up behind him in the mirror until it was too late.
It grabbed Hiten by the back of his head and smashed his face into the mirror. Shards of glass flew all over the place, various sized shards of the glass forced themselves into Hiten’s face and neck. The killer forced Hiten’s head into the full sink and kept him under. The half demon struggled but couldn't get free.
When his body went limp, the killer casually dropped Hiten on the floor, and looked down at him. His pale face was covered with cuts from the shattered mirror, most of which were still bleeding. Glazed crimson eyes stared lifelessly.
The killer grinned and walked out of the locker room to find it’s next victim.
<><><><>
Shizuru slowly walked into the boy's locker to find Hiten. He’d run off after they’d found her older brother’s body at the foot of the stairs.
"Ten?” She called softly. Shizuru brushed her blue bangs out of her eyes. She looked over at the sink and gasped. Hiten was lying on the floor, soaking wet, with his face bleeding, chunks of glittering glass scattered around his body. She could tell he was dead. Shizuru rushed out onto the balcony of the third floor and breathed in the cool night air.
<This isn’t happening!> She thought franticly tears welling up in her green eyes. <Oh, Hiten!>
<><><><>
The killer silently sneaked up behind Shizuru and pushed her over the edge of the balcony. She instinctively grabbed the rail and hung on. Franticly, she grabbed at the killer's mask and pulled it off. Her green eyes widened as she saw who it was.
"You! Why?!" She managed to cry in pure horror before the killer grabbed her hand and let the young redhead fall down onto the parking lot, three stories below. The killer picked up it's mask and walked back inside.
<><><><>
"’Zure!" Terry called into the seemingly empty gym. “Zu-Zu, where are you?!” His sheet costume was slung over his shoulder
He looked around at the black and orange decorated gymnasium. It really gave him the creeps, being there all alone. He heard what sounded like footsteps and looked around. Then his pale pink/brown eyes strayed to the ceiling.
Terry's face twisted into an expression of utter horror. His girlfriend/step-sister was hanging amongst the Halloween decorations. No, she was hung BY the decorations, her lifeless blue eyes staring down at him with the strings from the balloons tied tightly around her throat. Terry staggered back. The killer slowly walked up behind him, holding a discus.
The killer raised the discus high over it’s head as Terry turned around and let out a wail of terror as the killer swiftly brought it down, and clubbed him over the head, over and over.

Rose looked around the school auditorium and shivered. She hadn't seen Kite in a while and was getting worried. "Kite-kun! Where are you?" Rose called, her breathy voice echoing around the large room.
For some reason, the lights on stage were turned on suddenly. She saw Kite, lying on his stomach, in center stage. She ran down to him.
"K-Kite...?" She said softly, touching his shoulder.
"Oh!" Rose cried as her trembling hand came back red. She turned him over and tried to scream but no sound came out.
Kite's blank hazel eyes stared back at her, half closed, his mouth slightly open, with blood pouring from his slit throat.
Rose fell to her knees, sobbing. "No! Not Kite! Not Kite"
She noticed something sparkling on Kite’s red-stained lab coat. She picked it up, still red with blood and gasped. “N-No...”
<><><><>
Yuri was scared. No, not scared. Terrified! She was by herself in a semi-empty school with a killer on the loose!
Her walkie-talkie beeped, startling her. “H-h-hello?”
"Yuri!" Rose's frantic voice came on. "Kite is dead! But I think I know who the killer is!"
"Who?"
"I think it's . . ." Rose was cut off by her own loud scream and then silence.
"Rose? Rosie!" Yuri cried.
Silence.
"Hey, Yuri." Rose’s voice came back on.
"Rosie, what happened?" Yuri asked, concerned.
"Um, I thought I saw something. No big. I'm in the auditorium. Okay? Bye."
<Rose is on the other side of the school,> Yuri thought, a soft whimper escaping her throat. <I'll have to go past Vinny and Ulrich . . .>
The very short girl started down the hall and tried not to look at Vincent's dead body, still in the basket. She passed by Ulrich's and looked at the boy she had cuddled with just hours before. Poor, strong, loving Ulrich . . .
<This is just too much!> Yuri thought as she ran to the locker room with her hand over her over her mouth. She ran into the first stall and vomited up everything she'd eaten that night.
She staggered out and saw her own twin brother, Hiten, lying on the floor, dead. Yuri rushed out onto the balcony and looked down to see Shizuru lying with a pool of blood around her head. She turned toward the parking lot and saw Tsubana slumped against her car. Tsubana and Yuri had never been very close, but they had both shared in their grief for Vincent’s death.
With tears in her crimson eyes, Yuri ran toward the gym. When she got there she saw a T-shirt clad body lying on its stomach. <Terry...?> Yuri thought.
She got a little closer and saw that he, like almost everyone else, was dead. Like his younger brother, his head had been bashed in. She looked up and saw a familiar pair of black boots hanging from the ceiling decorations. Holding back a sob, she ran toward the auditorium.
As she ran, Yuri tripped over something at the foot of the stairs, when she looked to see what it was, she saw Shigeki, his neck twisted at an unnatural angle, his bright blue eyes wide and unblinking. A choked sob escaped her lips as she ran getting closer to the auditorium by the second.
<><><><>
“Rose!” Yuri called into the auditorium, her voice trembling. She saw her friend slumped over Kite's body. She walked onto the stage from the seats and, at first she thought that Rose was crying, silent tears of pain and grief.
She jogged over to the two. When Yuri saw her friend she fought back tears as well as a wave of nausea.
Rose’s violet eyes were wide with fear and her mouth was frozen in an endless, silent scream of terror. Yuri got down on her knees and checked her friend for a pulse. A sob escaped her throat. The young half-kitsune had been stabbed in the back numerous times.
She stood up and screamed at the top of her lungs. “Coward! Come on out and face me if you have the guts!"
A figure dressed as the Scream Killer came into view from behind the stage right curtain. The killer slowly walked over to Yuri and removed its mask.
“You!” She growled."Why? Why did you do this?!"
An insane grin spread across Tammy’s face, but she remained silent.
"Why?!" Yuri cried, sobbing. “Everyone you killed, they were your friends! Your family!”
"Why?" She spoke as if talking to a child but his voice grew harsher with every word, "Because I’m f**k**g sick of being the tag along in the group. All of you always treated me like I had no idea what was going on. When my mother died, everyone acted like I didn’t know what’d happened. Sure I was only a baby, but I still knew! Everyone was so concerned about poor, skitzo Vincent, they all f**k**g ignored me!” She tilted her head and grinned. “But sweet little Tammy isn’t going to be ignored anymore . . .”
<She’s completely lost It.> She thought, but couldn’t help but pity Tammy, just a little bit.
Tammy looked at Rose’s corpse, “You know, the look on her face is so familiar. Now where have I seen it before? Oh, yeah. That's the same look Ulrich had on his face, right before I beat his head in."
Something inside Yuri snapped just then. She lunged at her, clawing at her face and tearing at her black costume, ripping away a chunk of the thick black fabric. Tammy grabbed her wrists and threw her across the stage.
Tammy grinned, her face ghostly pale in the spot light, streaks of bright red blood running down her face. Yuri searched franticly for a weapon, while trying to distract her.
"I just want to know, was it really Rosie I was talking to after she screamed?" She asked, her crimson eyes going from corner to corner.
Tammy laughed, only his voice was different. Higher, breathier. Exactly like Rose’s. “Of course it was me, you stupid b*tch. Really, I don’t know what Ulrich ever saw in you.”
Yuri saw a plastic yellow bucket the janitors used. She jumped up from the floor and ran for the bucket. She picked it up and threw the water on Tammy, soaking her clothes.
Tammy laughed at her. Cold, hard, evil laughter, her light blue eyes shining with pleasure.
"So long, Tams!” Yuri said, as she ripped a cord from the wall and threw it at her pink-haired assailant. Tammy screamed as the electricity flowed through her body and then slumped to the hard wood floor, her eyes closed.
Yuri, breathing heavily, walked over to Tammy’s body and kicked her with the toe of her red slipper. She didn’t move.
The 15-year-old walked over to Rose’s body and a loud sob escaped her throat. All her friends were dead: her brother Hiten, Shizuru, Vincent, her beloved Ulrich, Azure, Terry, Tsubana, Kite, Shigeki, and Rose. Not to mention the fact Tammy had gone completely insane . . .Suddenly, a cold shiver ran up her spine.
She turned to where Tammy's body was and gasped. It was gone. Yuri felt a pair of strong hands wrap around her throat and squeeze, crushing her windpipe almost immediately. Right before then, she saw a pair of almost glowing blue eyes from behind her in the reflection of the puddle of blood stained water . . .
<><><><>
“Yuri! Yuri! Wake up!"
Yuri opened her bright crimson eyes to see Ulrich stooping over her, shaking her shoulders.
"What? Ul-kun! You're alive!" She cried as she flung her arms around his shoulders and kissed him hard on the lips.
"Aw! Yuri and Ulrich sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G!" Terry laughed as she walked over to them.
"Terry!" Yuri squealed as she jumped up from the chair she had been sitting in and hugged him.
The rest of the gang, alive and well, stared at her as if she'd grown a second head.
"Are you feeling alright, Yurs?" Terry asked, tilting his head.
"You guys I had the worst dream! We were all getting killed and then . . .!" She started but Tammy stopped her.
"Tell us later. I want to dance. Come on, Shi-kun," She said as she pulled Shigeki onto the dance floor as a slow, romantic song came on.
The rest of the guys followed and pulled their girlfriends close as they danced except for Yuri and Ulrich.
"I'll be right back." Yuri told him as se headed in the direction of the bathroom.
When she got there, she pressed her forehead against the cool glass of the mirror and started to relax. <It was just a dream,> She thought to herself, smiling slightly. <Just a dream.> But then she looked down and started to scream.
In her hand was a chunk of thick black fabric, covered a still warm, sticky red substance . . .

The killer stepped out of the car and examined Tsubana's body. Blood covered the front of her black tank top and her dark blue eyes were dull and lifeless. With a confident smirk, the killer walked away in the direction of the school.

“N-No...”

Right before then, she saw a pair of almost glowing blue eyes from behind her in the reflection of the puddle of blood stained water . . .

“Yuri! Yuri!
In her hand was a chunk of thick black fabric, covered a still warm, sticky red substance . . .
