(This was originally gonna be a story, but I have zilch inspiration lately with all my brainpower going into my novel...^^ So, happy early Love Day!)
"Happy Valentines Day, Rosie." Evan smiled at his teenage daughter, holding out a bouquet roses, each a different color. In all there were sixteen.
"Daddy, you didn't have to do this..." Rose smiled at him, tears brimming in her blue eyes. "You've done it for sixteen years in a row, why keep it up?"
"Because, my darling daughter," Evan took off his white veterenary jacket and tossed it into an arm chair, letting it settle on the family's newest addition, an orphaned doschound named Meester Kibbles. The jacket was decorated with an assortment of buttons and pins with different funny images or sayings on them. His favorite was the 'Scat-o-phobia: fear of poop' button on his breast pocket. "On the day you were born I bought one red rose from the hospital gift shop for you. I've done it every year since then. It's sort of our own little tradition."
"I get that, but why all the different colors?" Rose sat on the couh and patted the seat next to him, ignoring the scary movie she'd put on not five minutes before. Her father laughed.
"I still don't know which color you like best."
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Rose smashed her fist against her alarm clock, hoping she'd hit the snooze button. The beeping continued.
She sat up groggily and looked around her room. Seven o'clock. She had to get up for school soon. Flopping back down on her pillow, Rose took a halfhearted glance at the small farside calender next to her bed. With a loud moan and pulled the pillow over her head.
It was Valentine's Day. Just great.
"Happy eighteenth birthday to me." Rose grumbled bitterly and hit her alarm clock again, finally silencing the evil contraption.

Cain cracked open the door to Rose’s room, clutching roses in one hand and stuffing a box into his pocket with the other. He’d heard that alarm clock go off for ten minutes, the woman was a heavy sleeper that was for sure.
“Why yes it is your birthday,” Cain said with a smile as he sat down on the edge of Rose’s bed. He held out the roses, smiling at the look on her face. “Look, I remembered it was, like, double holidayed today. You wouldn’t believe how hard it is to find roses as pretty as my Rose.”
Twelve red roses were hard to come by, especially if you keep insisting the dozen they handed you isn’t just perfect for the person they’re going too. The lady at the flower shop had gotten so upset and fed-up with Cain; she’d tried to sale him yellow. Just to get him to leave. Stupid lady, didn’t she know yellow was for good-bye?
“Oh, before I forget and sit on it more,” Cain got up to pull the little box out of his pocket. He’d looked for weeks for something for Rose for her birthday; no one had been much help. Karma’s idea had been to send her off somewhere for a week, so she’d finally get to fly, but Cain reminded her that Rose still had school. Eva and Jack hadn’t been any help at all. Then he’d found it the week before last in Charlotte while trying to act like he was interested in helping his father on a council trip. A necklace with a gold rose, all the petals done in diamonds. Cain had gotten ribbed about buying it by Abel until they’d gotten back home.
“Here, Happy Birthday,” he said handing the box over with a smile. “It just looked like you too me. Besides, those roses are gonna die in a week or so.”
((Oh god.... I'm such a f'in sap...))

Rose took the presents almost hesitently, her harsh mood melting when she held the roses and opened the box. Tears flooded her eyes as she pulled out the necklace, gazing at the glittering gold and diamonds.
"Cain...oh, Cainy..." Were the only words she could muster before she burst into tears and wrapped him in a tight hug, her face pressed into his shoulder. "Y-You really shouldn't have, babe..." She pulled away only for a second to give him a teary smile and say, "I'd had my heart set on moping around, but you've just ruined that for me."

“No really, I think I should have,” Cain replied hugging her back. “I couldn’t let you mope around on your birthday… or Valentine’s Day for that matter. People start thinkin’ I’m a slacker in the boyfriend department. Can’t let that happen. You know?”
He was just happy she liked it. Now it was worth all teasing from his father over buying jewelry. “’Sides, you only turn eighteen once. You deserve something beautiful.”

Rose blushed, still smiling softly. "For your eighteenth birthday I made you a cake...I feel like a slacking girlfriend now." She laughed a little, wiping her eyes. "But seriously, Cainy...thank you so much."

"It was a beautiful cake," Cain replied grinning, "and you're so not a slacker. " He kissed her on the cheek before getting up. "Well, glad you liked it. And you're welcome. If it makes you happy, it makes me happy."

Rose hled the bouquet close to her chest and slid out of bed, knowing she must look like a wreck with her blond hair mushed from sleep and dressed in plaid pajama pants twice her size and an old T-shirt of Cain's. She held up the necklace towards her fiance. "you want to help me put it on?"

“No, babe, I wanna stand here and watch you twist and turn trying to get it latched by yourself.” Cain teased, taking the necklace out of Rose’s hands and undoing the little clasp. “Turn around and lift your hair up,” he said, finally noting she was wearing his clothes. “You know, you look good in my shirt… wow, isn’t that one of those crazy country songs you listen too?” Cain commented, laughing a little. “Bet’ch look better without it.” He kissed her on the cheek before adding quickly. “Kidding… Sorta.”

Rose snorted softly and turned around so her back was to him. She lifted up her mane of blond hair so he could get the necklace around her neck. “Ahahaha. Funny. And I actually like that song. So sue me if I like Keith Urban.”

“Ah, you only like him because he talks funny,” Cain replied, snapping the necklace around Rose’s neck. “There,” he muttered, grinning as he pointed to the door, “well, I’d better go get a shower, then drink half a pot of coffee, dad’s got something planned for me to do today, it’ll probably be something I hate and make me want to die before I get home.”
He kissed her on the cheek again, “Have fun at school…”
“Damn, that sounds funny. I graduate, say good bye to high school, and you’re still stuck for a year in it.”
Ooc; that reminds me… when I went to drum major academy, people would stop Tala and I and ask us to say stuff…. I was like “Why?” and they’d say “because you have the cutest accent.” And I was like… “Wait… I have an accent?” It was funny, when people are like “c’mon, just one line, something with ‘y’all’ in it.” Lol. Stupid people.

(XD Daw *hugs* You know we love you and Tala, Cars)
Rose turned around and planted a kiss on Cain's lips, smiling warmly. "Alright, babe, I'll see you when I get home." She hugged him tightly, nuzzling his neck. "Thank again, I'm never taking this off. And by the end of the day, you're going to have the ultimate Valenties present. I promise."

((Aw, well I know you love me... Tala isn't here enough for anyone to love her. XD Jking. She just stays really... busy.))
"Awesome, so you're gonna take off your clothes and buy chocolate sauce?" Cain asked, grinning as he hugged her back and gave her a peck on the cheek before turning for the door. "I was kidding, unless you're really gonna do that."

Rose grinned and laughed. "I'll consider it. If not, I'll save it for our honeymoon, alright?" She started for the closet. "Now, if you need me, I'll be in the closet trying to find something to wear."

"Somehow, I knew you were gonna say that. So, I'll try not to let it dissapoint me too baddly. I still think almost a year a long time to wait for chocolate, though Rose," Cain replied, rolling his eyes and muttering as he walked toward his own room.

Rose stopped in mid step, a thought clicking in her head. "Actually, Cainy...I think I'll stay home today." A wide smile crossed her face. "It is my birthday after all and what will one day matter? I wanna stay home and work on your present."
