What was it with people ad them thinking Cain could take a joke? “Yeah well, I wasn’t.” He was such a grumpy person sometimes.
“Okay, so maybe a little,” his mood had lightened. “But you know, if I hadn’t known you since you were knee high to a cricket, I really would have kicked you out.”

Will shrugged slightly. There wasn't much to say at this point, aside from that he had plenty of other girls to show off for, without homocidal fathers. Today didn't really seem like the day to piss Cain off more, though. "Knee high to a cricket, Mr. Jiovanni? What are you, 50 or something?" he rolled his eyes.
Well, maybe it was okay to piss him off a little more, right?

“Okay, Jack, changed my mind, the kid’s a dumbass.” Cain said his voice a little flat with annoyance.
“Will, today is not one of those days where I let people by with much, especially boys that remind me of me when I was your age. Which, I’ll go ahead and remind you, wasn’t that long ago. I’d shut it if I were you.”

"Okay, okay, I'll be good now." Will laughed.
""Thanks for callin' me smart, sir."

“Will,” Jack warned, shaking his head. “I give Cain enough grief without your help. Go put that shirt somewhere before it drips all over the floor and your mother slips.”

“Is it just me are kids these days all smartasses? You tell ‘em to do something and it never gets done.” Cain was starting off on one of his ‘speeches’; he suddenly stopped, adding with a grin.
“Yeah, karma is completely biting me in the ass. Nevermind.”

Will went into the kitchen, sighing as he looked at his stain covered white shirt. Bleach wouldn't even get that out well. He rubbed his forehead, sighing again. Life sure was wonderful when people talked about you like you weren't right there.

“Tell me about it.” Jack rolled his eyes, lowering his voice. “We weren’t the best behaved kids.”

"Understatement." Eva said, returning from the bathroom. "What's going on?"

“Will talking back.” Jack shrugged, summarizing. Kaitlyn glanced up at her little brother, taking a bite out of an apple.
“You’re so lucky you didn’t spill that in dad’s Mustang.”

"I didn't spill it, persay." Will sighed and glanced at his sister
"I don't know what to do about that boy....." Eva looked up at Jack. "Any input?"

“Yeah, okay.” Kaitlyn drawled sarcastically. “All I’m saying is you’re lucky we were in the truck. Besides,” She grinned. “Dad’s giving me the Mustang so I would have had to beat you up too.”
“Lock him up?” Jack shrugged.

"Ah, well, I'll have to come up with something better than soda then." Will said nonchalantly
"Works for me." Eva giggled

“You’re dreaming if you think Dad’ll let you anywhere near the car with anything that’ll stain.” Kaitlyn challenged. “You trying to piss him off or something?”
“He’ll sneak out, of course- that’s what I did.” Jack sighed.

"It's what my brother did." Eva nodded, agreeing.
"AFTER he gives it to you." Will rolled his eyes. "Honestly, I'm no THAT stupid."

“I dunno.” Jack shrugged helplessly.
“Well I just won’t give you any rides, little bro.” Kaitlyn grinned smugly.

"Maybe you should have a talk with him." Eva suggested.
"Like I want rides." Will made a face. "Hell is I know what you'll be doing in that car, sis."

“And tell him what? To stop acting like me?”
“They’re still talking about you, you know.” Kait took another bite of her apple, changing the topic. “Can I have your room if they ship you off to reform school?"

"I don't know, Jack." Eva shrugged moodily. "Don't bring yourself up at all; make it about him." she quoted one of the parenting books she'd read before Will was born.
"Your room not good enough?" Will glanced sideways at her

“Okay, fine.” Jack conceded. “I’ll talk to him.”
“Nah, I was thinking of making it a walk in closet.” Kait smirked, only half teasing.
