It was all Cass could do to keep from turning to confront the mutt that was stalking her. Admittedly, it was her fault they’d become so skittish. She’d over hunted the area, picking off the ‘wolves who didn’t have a pack. But the way she saw it, she was doing the local alpha, Xander, a favor. ‘Wolves who fell for her lost girl in the park routine didn’t live to attack anyone else. She sighed, wishing this one would hurry up and take the bait.

Xander stood in the shadows of a tree at the edge of the park, his arms crossed and a perpetual frown across his face. Someone had been killing the 'Wolves in his area, leading to a slew of problems for him, including the blame for the deaths being placed on his short temper. It all seemed to come from this tiny, fragile looking girl, with her skin glowing in the moonlight.

Cass smiled a little, heading deeper into the park and feigning interest in some purple flowers growing up the trunk of the tree as the mutt took the opportunity to sneak closer. .

Cass grinned, turning around just before he grabbed her and sinking her teeth into his neck, wrapping her arms around him.
