“Xander,” Cass practiced, pacing idly around her room as she waited for Xander to pick her up for their date. It was their three month anniversary and while she was hopeful, she didn’t really expect him to remember. “Xander, I can’t do this anymore.”
It had been a stroke of luck that she’d even met Xander, really. Jack had dragged her along to an exclusive party, the kind you normally need a tail to get invited to. But she’d gotten in thanks to Jack’s reputation and had gone undetected due largely to Jack’s jacket that covered her scant tank top as well as her scent.
After that, she’d had to be kept a secret. Xander, a full blood, didn’t want anyone to know he was dating a lowly human. Not that she blamed him. And it had been worth it for a while, because no one made her feel as good as he did. But this new girl, his ‘cover girlfriend’, she was too much. And so, Cass was giving him an ultimatum.
She sighed, falling down on her bed and pulling a pillow over her face. “Turn me and dump her or we’re over. Yeah, heh. Nice knowing you.”

Xander paced back and forth in the living room of the apartment he shared with most of his pack. His Second, Frank, was the only one within hearing range, thankfully, because he was also the only one that had any idea of the secret that was currently bothering xander so much.
"f**k**g shit man, what the hell am I supposed to do with this?" Xander growled, half at himself and half at Frank. He liked Cass, he really did- more than he'd ever liked anybody if he was being truthful with himself. But he had to be a certain person to lead the pack, and that person DID NOT date a full blooded human.
She'd SMELLED like a Wolf when he'd met her, or he'd thought she had. He'd been damn drunk at the party, and the pretty, petite brunette grinding up on him had been a welcome treat in a place where most chicks were after a place in his pack, or his bloodlines. He hadn't noticed what was wrong with her till the next morning, but after he gave such a vicious snarl anyone would have known who- and what- he was, she'd only smiled a little and stayed near him.
And somehow, they had stayed together three whole months, longer than he'd stayed with anyone. But she was getting restless, and if he admitted it to himself, he was too.

“Just bite her, man.” Frank grinned lazily through a veil of smoke. “Do it while yer f**k**g and the next day be like ‘oh, baby, that was a complete and total accident. I’m a wild animal in the sack’.”
“And she’ll be all ‘oh, you’re so strong and handsome with your muscular arms. Take me again and again and one more time you sexy beast’. And blamo, problem solved. No more sneaking around.” He nodded to himself, commending his own sagely wisdom.

"You know, that might work...." xander said thoughtfully, scowling. "If she was one of those brainless sluts you like so much.." He rolled his eyes and continued pacing. "I should at least show up for her date, but.... God, I mean.... Hell. I can't abandon the pack to be with some human girl."

“So dump her ass.” Frank shrugged, dropping his cigarette on the ground and stomping it out. “Not like you don’t have whats-her-face.”

"You're less help than goddamn Jack." xander grumbled. "I'm going now."

Xander rolled his eyes and got on his bike, speeding off to Cass's house, not even bothering to smooth his hair down before knocking on the door.

Cass’ heart skipped a beat and she had to keep herself from running downstairs to fling open the door and jump into Xander’s arm. Damn him. Instead, she got up slowly, smoothing down her hair in the mirror before venturing near the stairs. She took them slowly, almost sure he’d be able to hear her footsteps from outside. Good. Let him know she was in no rush to see him, even though her heart beat rapidly to spite her. By the time she made it to the front door, she was almost sure that he’d gotten impatient and left. When she opened the door it was all she could do to keep from smiling at him.
“Hi, Xander.”

"Hey there, Princess." xander tilted his head and grinned crookedly. Goddamn, She was beautiful. Moments like this he wanted nothing but to see her smile, and to be with her for the rest of his life, pack be damned

“You wanna come in?” Cass stepped aside, her lips betraying her and shifting easily into a smile.

"I'd like that." Xander said in a warm tone. He always felt damn warm and caring around here. That was part of the problem

She grinned, drifting forward to kiss him on the cheek- instead of her usual kiss on the lips. She blushed, turning around swiftly and walking to the kitchen, muttering angrily at herself.

"Whao there." Xander grabbed her wrist and pulled her into a kiss. he had to admit, he liked that she had only a tiny fraction of his strength

“Hey-!” Cass squeaked, fighting him for only a tiny second before kissing him back hungrily, wrapping her arms around his neck. Double damn him. And damn her traitorous heart and body.

Xander wrapped his arms tightly around her, skillfully walking them backwards until he could sit on the couch, tanking her down on his lap

Cass came to her senses rather suddenly, remembering what had happened last time on that couch. She squirmed against him – probably the wrong thing to do- trying to get away.

Xander broke the kiss and stared at her, a little dumbfounded. "What's wrong?"

Cass panted and scrambled off of his lap because she couldn’t think when he was so close. Once safely across the room, she looked back at him, crossing her arms over her chest to hide the shaking. “Xander, I can’t do this anymore.” Her lines were poorly delivered; it was so much easier when he wasn’t staring at her.

"can't...... do what.....?" Xander asked in a low tone, feeling a predatory part of him both excited and angry that she was so scared looking
